The early production "Jeep" vehicles by the three
manufacturers were totally different and included the
Bantam BRC-40,
Ford GP and Willys MA versions. However, by 1942 the American
military required a standardized utility vehicle, which were ultimately
produced as the Willy's MB and Ford GPW. Many vehicles did NOT follow any particular pattern and were highly modified by individual crews, units, or even countries. See the SAS/LRDG and "Wasp" Jeep pages for more information. |
