Miscellaneous Info: The Lanchester armored cars were primarily built in Mark 1 and Mark 2 versions. The Mark 1 cars can be identified by having dual-rear wheels and a drum shaped turret cupola. The Mark 2 vehicles were fitted with single rear wheels and a "Bishop's Mitre" shaped turret cupola.  Some Mark 1 and 2 vehicles were built as command vehicles, fitted with radios instead of the hull mounted machine gun.  These were designated Mark 1A and Mark 2A respectively. A total of 39 cars were built in all versions, some even serving into the early part of World War Two.  Approximate numbers produced were: Mark 1 (18), Mark 1A (4), Mark 2 (7), Mark 2A (6), with he remaining four (4) being the D1E1, D1E2 prototypes and the D1E3 and D1E4 training chassis.
