Again, the Armored Modeling and Preservation Society's AMPS-Central Virginia Chapter has made more progress on their 1/35 Tamiya M8 Greyhound model "Group Build" project.  Check out their latest progress here.

Warpaint Book Series author Dick Taylor has provided us with some great photos of his time serving in the British Military during the 1970's and 1980's.  The photos include coverage of the Ferret Mark 1, Ferret Mark 2 scout cars, the Saladin Armored Car, and the Saracen APC and Saracen Regimental Armoured Command Vehicle.

September 18th

September 17th

Spurred on by receiving more great pics via Mark, we've completed another "Holabird" vehicle index, this one being of the T8 Armored Car.

 

In addition, Patrick has bought a new book that he thinks anyone interested in British vehicles should be aware of.  It is published by MMP  Books and titled "Warpaint: Colours and Markings of British Army Vehicles 1903-2003 (Volume 3)" .  It is written by prolific author Dick Taylor and is a 'must have' reference for us "Anglophiles" (As well as are the previous Volumes 1 and 2 of his "Warpaint" series). 

 

Although the main topic of the book is obviously not Armored Cars, there are a LOT of AC's covered in this book.  In fact, Dick was a commander of a Saladin Armored Car in his earlier days and presents some of his personal photos in the book.   If you are interested in purchasing a signed copy directly from Dick, you can contact him via his email.

September 8th

Belgian correspondent Ron Bollen has sent us almost 50 photos of the AEC Mark 2 Armored Car.

September 2nd

August 19th Echelon Fine Details has announced more decals for WFV's.  These are 1/35 Field Fabricated Armor Plating Markings - Large Alphanumerics  (D356118) and Small Alphanumerics (D356119). Specifically, they replicate the stenciling seen on Hardox applicque armor ("Hillbilly Armor") used right after the 2003 invastion of Iraq.

July 7th While we're on the subject of MRAP vehicles, frequent WW contributor Joe Trevithick, has sent us a document titled "Handbook: MRAP Vehicles - Tactics, Techniques and Procedures" (PDF) produced by the US Army's Combined Arms Center.  Please Note:  Although the document references "Use by official personnel only", the document was legitimately obtained via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request.

Also, more hobby modeling products have been announced including a set of 1/35 Staghound Armored Car Wheels (RE35-006) from new Polish manufacturer Panzer Art as well as a 1/35 M6 37mm Gun Barrel (G35-040); which would be used with the Staghound 1 and M8 Greyhound by Orange Hobby.
March 1st We've finally reached the "end of an era" with this next posting of photos: John Charvat's pics of the M998 HMMWV with ASK and "Hillbilly" Armor. Hopefully, JC will be able to come up with more interesting WFV pics for WW in the future.

February 24th We've put up Patrick's review of Ralph Riccio's new book "Italian Tanks and Combat Vehicles of World War Two".  Although there are (gasp) tanks covered in the book ,there is a large amount of content dedicated to Italian WFV's also.

Echelon Fine Details has also announced some cool new decals for WFV's.  They are 1/35 "Field Fabricated Armor Plating Markings" (D356112).  Specifically, they replicate the stenciling seen on Hardox applicque armor ("Hillbilly Armor") used right after the 2003 invastion of Iraq.
February 14th Rob Teubert has sent in some photos of his 1/72 Retrokit White-Laffly 50AM Armored Car Model kit.

Also, a new model company from Spain called Minor has announced some interesting 1/35 Jeep aftermarket sets (Tamiya) including:

February 8th Today we've got a major overhaul of the Dragoon/AM 300 Series Vehicle Index.  Content Editor Dave, did additionalresearch on the vehicle and has found some interesting "new" info, as well as a bunch of photos and data sheets we can post. 
February 7th "Blackhand's" last submission for the time being are photos of the LAV-150S AFV and LAV-150ST AFV.
February 6th "Blackhand" has sent us more WFV's from the Philippines; Today's installment are photos of the Simba APC and LAV300 AFV.

February 3rd Today, we have a very welcome addiiton to WW. Kevin Tucker has sent us an updated version of his "British Armored Car Vehicle Name/WD Serial Number Listing".  Not only does it have a LOT more information than our last version, but it is now available in Adobe PDF instead.  And another thanks to longtime friend, Al Crawford, for helping get the PDF created.  Thanks Kevin and Al!

Also, a couple more 1/48 modeling products have been announced by Gaso.Line Models; including a set of wheels for Italeri's Sdkfz 234/2 Puma (GAS48092) as well as a full model kit of the French MRAP Aravis (GAS50207K).
February 2nd Charvy's back with more M998 Cargo/Troop Carrier photos, including Humvees fitted with the Amtech Corporation MRC Hardtop.
February 1st Today starts a bit of Humvee Heaven.  John Charvat has provided us with more photos of the HMMWV series, starting with pics of the M998 HMMWV with HArD Armor Kit.  Based upon John's info/photos, we'v also set up a new vehicle index for the M998 Cargo/Troop Carrier.  More Hummer stuff to come in the days that follow!
January 31st Charvat is back at it once more with almost 150 photos of the M1200 Armored Knight Fire Control/Recon/Targeting Vehicle (A variant of the M1117).

January 14th Chuck Aleshire, "Cruise Director" and fellow member of AMPS-Chicagoland (Patrick's Model Club), has sent us some photos of the FV604 Saracen Regimental Armoured Command Vehicle.

Also Kevin Ingraham has passed on a unique photo (from the Canadian Public Archives) to us showing Brigadier Rockingham's M8 Greyhound Command Vehicle during the Korean Conflict.
