December 23rd I've added two hyperlinks to the WW "links" section.  The first one is a returnee: MAFVA - The Miniature AFV Association (they had changed URL's) and Ferret-AFV.ORG (for all things related to the Ferret Scout Car).

Also, Blast Models have announced two more 1/35 Armored Car accessory sets: 1) BL35123K for the Humber Scout Car Mk I and 2) BL35124K for the Staghound I.

December 22nd Hey wait. Did I hear someone asking for another Archer Fine Transfers review?  Well, no... but see my review of their 1/35 Pin Up Poster Set anyway.
December 20th Still another review of an Archer Fine Transfer product is available.  This one comes from Dick Montgomery and he reviews the Fabric Weave Texture Set - Surface Details #10

Finally, yet even more hobby products have been announced for the 1/35 AFV Club M1126 Stryker kitGriffon Models has gotten in the game and is releasing the following 3 sets: M1126 Stryker ICV Detail set #L35012(including a metal Mk 19 grenade launcher barrel ) Slat Armor set #L35013 (including blast shields and engine exhaust deflector) and Storage Basket Set #L35014.

December 18th Today, I've made available my decal review of Archer's "Weathered Wood Grain Texture - Surface Details #11"
December 17th Another Archer Fine Transfer decal review is up today.  This time John Ratzenberger reviews the set Wood Grain Texture - Surface Details #12

Also, another book is out about the Staghound as well.  The book is called "The Staghound in Canadian Service" (WOW018) and is authored by Roger Lucy and published by Service Publications.

December 16th Steve Allen reviews the Archer Fine Transfer 1/35 product "Women at War Propaganda Posters".

Also, Bison Decals has come out with a bunch of new decals suitable for wheelies including the sets "Staghound Armor Car 35063", "Humber Scout Car: 35064"; "New Zealand Armour in Europe and Africa: 35058" (Marmon Herrington Mk II & M3A1 "White" Scout Car"); and "New Zealand Armour in Italy: 35060" (Staghound I ,Dingo Scout Car, Humber Scout Car, M3A1 "White" Scout Car).

December 13th MIG Productions has just announced they are coming out with two more wheeled model kits:

Finally, Rossagraph Books of Poland is releasing "Staghound (Model Detail Photo Monograph #29)".

December 11th My review of Mushroom Model Publications' book (by Dick Taylor) "ISAF Vehicles In Afghanistan: 2007 (Kabul & Kandahar Areas)" is up.

Also, Hussar Productions have announced replacement wheel sets for the 1/35 Staghound (HSR35060) and 1/35 BTR-152/Zil-157 (HSR35152) model Kits.

Finally, Voyager Models has 3 more aftermarket PE sets for the 1/35 AFV Club M1126 Stryker.  These are the Slat Armor Set (PEA100), Spaced Armor Set (PEA 116) and M1126 Stryker Detail Sets w/ Slat Armor Set (PE35200).  The last set contains the first two detail sets mentioned here and their suspension cover set.

December 9th A vehicle index for the Volkswagen Type 181 Utility Vehicle is up for your viewing pleasure.
December 6th Steve Allen has provided more photos of his armored car model kits including the 1/35 Accurate Armour Humber Mk II Armored Car and the 1/35 Sovereign 2000 Daimler Mark I Armored Car.

Also, SKP Model has announced an exterior detail set (SKP 018) for their 1/35 Humber Scout Car model kit.  The detail set includes both resin and photo-etch brass pieces depicting a set of twin Vickers "K" machine guns, fenders and crew access hatches.

Finally, I've put up a hyperlink to Cromwell Models of Scotland.  Cromwell is the manufacturer of resin model kits and accessories (as well as some built models) in 1/35, 1/72, and 1/76 scales as well as having a couple 120mm vehicle kits.

December 4th Today, I've put up two Czech Republic 4x4 vehicle indices: the SVOS LRD ARM 2 APC and the SVOS LRD ARM 3 Recon Vehicle.
December 3rd Accurate Armour has announced a few more new WFV products including a 1/35 Staghound .50 cal Anti-Aircraft Conversion set (C089) for the Bronco Models Staghound I, and also a Staghound stowage set (A117) that should fit all 1/35 Staghound kits out there. 

They've also made announcement that they have now included decal sets for all 10 versions of their 1/35 Ferret Scout Car and CVR(W) Fox and Vixen model kits.

Also, Real Models is at it again with their Stryker sets.  They've announced two M1127 Stryker Recon Vehicle conversions for the AFV Club M1126 ICV's.  The first is a "basic" conversion set (RM35122) and the second is an "upgraded" set (RM35122) which includes (3) Eduard PE sets, including the Slat Armor Set.

Finally, JP Hobby has announced two 1/35 conversion sets that have the Quad 0.50 cal Maxon Turret involved.  The first is the Quad .50 cal Turret for the 1/35 Tamiya GMC 353 "deuce and half" truck (JP35020) and the second one is a quad .50 cal turret for the 1/35 Tamiya M8 Greyhound Armored Car kit (JP35021).

December 2nd Yesterday at our AMPS-Chicagoland chapter meeting, Chuck Aleshire had his beautiful 1/35 Tamiya M8 Greyhound Armored Car there for us to see up close and personal.
December 1st More vehicle indices are up to courtesy of Dave Haugh.  Today, we have the Serbian TAM 110 Ris/Lynx 4x4 APC and the Israeli Tomcar Armadillo Recon Vehicle.

November 30th Irish Correspondent Roy Kinsella is back with more model photos including those of his extensive 1/35 HMMWV Model Collection and of his very nicely done 1/35 Tamiya JGSDF Light Armored Vehicle (LAV).
November 29th I've finished my first look review of Retrokit's 1/72 AM White Armored Car.
November 27th Since I am a member of both the Armor Modeling and Preservation Society (AMPS) and of the AMPS - Chicagoland Chapter, I'd like to help support AMPS as best I can.  Therefore, I've put up hyperlinks to all of the other AMPS Chapters (which have websites).  Check them out in the WW Links section.
November 25th Great news!! Jim Starkweather, main guru of Armorama, has kindly moved over the WarWheels.Net forum over to the Armorama main forum index under the "hosted forums" section.  Check it out at HERE.  Hopefully, that will increase the traffic of the WW forum.  Thanks again Jim!!

More model news; Best Value Models (subsidiary of ADV/Azimut) is coming out with two 1/35 releases: a T17E3 Staghound III (BVM35058) which uses the Bronco Model Kit and a Studebaker BM-13 Katyushka Rocket Launcher (BVM35057) which uses the ICM truck kit.

November 24th

I just received a new kit from WW sponsor Retrokit:  Their 1/72 AM White (Model 1918) Armored Car (72030).  A review will be done shortly.  In the meantime, you can take a look at the WW vehicle index of the AM White.

Also, Voyager is coming out with a PE detail set for the 1/35 AFV Club M1130 Stryker CV.  It is supposedly a detail set for a USMC vehicle and the product number is 35188.

November 23rd Today, I'd like to present my son, David's first completed Armored Car model.  Here are photos of his 1/35 Tamiya Dingo Scout Car.

Also, Dave Haugh is back with another World of Wheelies country listing; this one Kazakhstan.

November 20th Irish Correspondent Roy Kinsella is back with some model pics of his 1/35 Nimex Irish URO Vamtac and 1/35 Heller FFL VAB 4x4 APC.

Lastly, PLUS Model is coming out with a 1/35 Stoewer Kfz. 4 Light AA car kit (280).

November 18th Sean Lynch, has provided more photos up of the M8 greyhound.  These were taken at a local expressway/highway dedication here in Illinois, USA.

Also, Humber expert Clive Elliott is back from oblivion and has provided us with some great photos of his FV 1609 Prototype "PIG".

Lastly, Tamiya has announced their release of a 1/48 M20 Utility Car (32556), not surprising after the release of their nice little 1/48 M8 Greyhound.

November 13th Courtesy of fellow AMPS-Chicagoland chapter member Sean Lynch, I've put up some more photos up of the M8 greyhound and M20 Utility Car.  Also, I've put up some photos taken by Sean and myself of a 1/35 Daimler Dingo/M31 ARV diorama we saw at the 2007 IPMS/USA Butch O'Hare (IL) Model Show.  If anyone knows who the model is by, please let me know.

Finally, I can't remember if I posted this info or not, but Bronco Models is coming out with a 1/35 T17E3 Staghound III with 75mm Gun (CB35021).

November 8th Steve Allen has sent more photos of his models; This time we have pics of his 1/35 Accurate Armour AEC Deacon 6-pounder Gun Carrier.

Also, more Sdkfz 234 Spahwagen products continue to be released.  Voyager gives us another comprehensive photo-etched detail set for the 1/35 Dragon Sdkfz 234/3 (35167).

November 7th I am happy to present some photos from a new contributor today.  Steve Allen of Iowa (by way of England) has sent us some photos of his 1/35 Cromwell Models Morris LRC Mark II Model kit.

November 6th More Stryker stuff again.  I've put up my "what's in the box" review at the Eduard Stryker Slat Armor Set (35 955) for the 1/35 Trumpeter kit.

And still more new model products are being released including a whole slew of new 1/35 Ferrets by Cromwell Models (Marks 1/1, 1/2 and 2/3), a 1/35 Trumpeter LAV-AD (00393) Model kit, and a new book by Wings and Wheels Productions - "Staghound In Detail" (Special Museum Line #46).

November 4th It's Stryker Sunday!  First, I've put up my first look review of Eduard's Stryker Stowage Belts Set (36001).

And second, speaking of Eduard Stryker stuff, they're coming out with two new 1/35 Photo Etched Detail sets for the AFV Club Stryker Kits.  They are: 1) A set of Slat/Birdcage Armor (36002), and 2) a set of "additional armor" (36011) also.

November 1, 2007 Today, I've put up vehicle indices for the Israeli Saymar Genda 290S 4x4 APC and the South Korean Barracuda 4x4 Armored Car and Black Fox 6x6 APC.
October 30, 2007 More awesome French stuff is up today. We have three new vehicle listings including, the White-Laffly Model AMC 1918, the White-Laffly 50 AM, and White-Laffly 80 AM.

Also, a couple more modeling products for the Armored Cars and WFV's in our lives.  Armoured Brigade Models is coming out with a 1/35 Steyr Type 2000A 3cm FLAK 38/103 AA Gun Carrier and Trailer Conversion (ABM024) and our friends at Archer Fine Transfers are coming out with a Vickers "K" gun armed Humber Scout Car of the 27th Armoured Brigade (AR35267).

October 29th Today, I've put up photos and a vehicle index for the IDF M325 Commandcar "Nun-Nun" and Automitrailleuse Dodge "Tanake".
October 27th Surprisingly, I've already finished and posted my review of Tamiya's new 1/48 M8 Greyhound Armored Car.
October 25th Today I've put up Dave Haugh's review of the 1/35 Bronco Humber Scout Car.  This review originally appeared at Armorama.

Also, I've found a few more photos of Erik Hendriks' 1/72 IDF HMMWV Hamer OREV lying about in my PC.

I have finished up my review of the 1/72 GRAN Ltd. Vodnik kits.  Check out the final "after" photos of my kit build.

Finally, there are a few more model kits coming out for us including:

JP Hobby's 1/35 conversion kits to make a Willy's Jeep with 3.7cm AT gun (JP35017) and M3A1 White Scout Car with 3.7cm AT gun (JP35019);

Panzershop's 1/35  Praga M53/59 AA Truck (35C138) and Praga PLDvK. 53/59 AA Truck Jesterka "Lizard" 35C137);

and finally Best Value Models' 1/35 Sdkfz 234 Panzerspahwagen with 2cm "Luchs" Turret.  This was a real field modification used by the 17th Panzer Division in Hungary (1945).  The kit consists of the Dragon 234 chassis, a Resin "Luchs" Turret and upper hull by BVM and a Jordi Rubio Barrel.

October 22nd I was out of town on "holiday" visiting relatives.  Now I'm back and far better than ever (not really).

Anyway, a few more WFV related model kit releases were announced in my absence.  These products are a 1/35 Schatton Modellbau 1/35 Mercedes 4500A truck with 5cm FLAK 41 gun (3533) resin kit, and Lion Roar's super HUGE detail sets for the 1/35 Dragon Sdkfz 234/1 (LAS 35004) and 1/35 Tamiya Sdkfz 222 (LAS 35006) Panzerspahwagens.

October 17th I've put up a hyperlink to the IPMS/USA 2008 National Convention which is taking place in Virginia Beach, VA from August 6-9, 2008.
October 16th Once again Dave's at it with his White Armored Motor Car No. 2 photos and vehicle index.
October 15th On Saturday, I helped out with the AMPS booth at the Military Miniatures Society of Illinois (MMSI) Annual "Chicago" Show.  I was able to take a bunch of ac/wfv photos.  MMSI is primarily a club for figure modelers (AKA miniature modelers), but they had some beautiful armor/wfv's too.

Also, thanks to Dave I've gotten up some photos and a vehicle index on the Canadian Otter Mk 1 Light Recon car.

Finally, I have a bit of model kit news.  Per PMMS, Bronco Models is coming out with a 1/35 T17E3 Staghound III Armored Car (35021) and SKP Model is releasing another set of 1/35 VW Beetle (Kafer) wheel sets; Continental type (SKP 021).

October 12th I've put up photos and a vehicle index for the Cheetah 4x4 Mine Protected APC.
October 11th It's an end of an era today.  With this vehicle index and photos of the RM-70/MRW-122 MRLS Vehicle, I've finally finished putting up all of the photos Dennis Trowbridge provided from his Saumur trip.  Thanks again to contributor-extraordinaire, Dennis!!
October 10th Today, I've put up a vehicle index and photos for the French VAB 4x4 APC and Soviet BRDM-2 Scout Car.

September 30, 2007 I have a very nice article and photos from fellow AMPS-Chicagoland member, Tom Kondziolka.  Tom shows us how he made a 1/35 Italeri Sdkfz 234/3 and DES conversion into his 1/35 Sdkfz 234/5 Panzerspahwagen.

Also, Dave Haugh has added two more WOW country entries: Denmark and Greece.

September 29th  More big news from Accurate Armour; they're coming out with an 1/35 FV 1601 Humber 4x4 GS 1 Ton Truck (the basis for the Humber "Pig") and a 1/48 Scammell Pioneer SV/2S Heavy Recovery Tractor.

Also, WW friend Peter Brown has two WFV related book reviews up on PMMS.  Both books are by Service Publications: The first one reviewed by Peter is "The Armoured Autocar In Canadian Service" and the second one on "The WW2 Jeep in Canadian Service".

Lastly, my review of a second Archer Guntruck Markings Set is up.  This time, I review the 1/35 Archer Fine Transfer set for the 5-ton M54 Guntruck "The Red Baron".

September 28th There's big product release news to announce from MIG Productions; They're coming out with two 1/35 full Kits of the M325 Nun Nun!!  The first version is the Mid Production M325 Command Car (MP-35290) and the second version is of the Early Production M325 Command Car (MP35291).  In addition, the PE sets they're including with the kits are supposed to be of a cutting edge design that eliminates the connecting points....  I can't wait to see this stuff in person!!
September 27th I've gotten more photos up of Erik Hendriks' 1/72 HMMWV IDF Hamer Orev TOW carrier.  Also, Erik's 9 year old daughter Daphne gets in the act by providing some photos of her award winning 1/76 Matchbox Humber Mark II Armored Car.  Daphne recently won a Bronze Medal in a local model contest.  Way to go!!
September 26th As many of you might know, I am part of a new model club in my area: AMPS - Chicagoland.  One of the great things about being in a club is that we get to meet some great people and some great modelers.  Hopefully in time you will see many armored car/WFV builds by modelers in the Chicagoland chapter.  And with that being said, I'd like to present some modelers by Chuck Aleshire of our chapter.  You can see his kit builds of the Sdkfz 223 Panzerspahwagen, BA-20mZhD railroad armored car and M3A1 "White" Scout Car.

September 25th James Lyles, author of the "Hard Ride (Volumes 1 & 2)" Vietnam Guntruck Series, reviews the 1/35 Archer Fine Transfer set for the 5-ton M54 Guntruck "Little Respect".
September 23rd I've added MODELx Magazine in the WarWheels Links section.  MODELx is a magazine for the serious (Military) scale modeler and is run by fellow AMPS- Chicagoland chapter member, Jeff Herne.
September 22nd Canada is now up on World of Wheelies.

Also, I have some more modeling related news:  Another news report on the 1/35 Bronco Staghound I is up courtesy of Armorama. Also, Voyager is coming out with a PE set for the Bronco kit as well. 

Finally, Griffon Models is coming out with a few more of their Sdkfz 234 series products; including detail sets for the Sdkfz 234/2, Sdkfz 234/4 and a 5cm Brass and Aluminum barrel for the 234/2.

September 17th Today, I've been able to put up some photos of one of the most unusual wheelies I've ever seen.  These came from Dennis Trowbridge and are of the ACMA TAP 56 "Bazooka Vespa" Scooter.

September 14th Today I have a very nice addition to the Staghound I page.  Courtesy of Martin Dogger of Holland, we have another 45 photos of the Staghound I armored car available.

Also, more WFV modeling products have been announced.  First of all, two books WWP's "No. 19 Stryker In Detail - Part 2" and Concord's Mini-Color Series "Stryker Interim Armored Vehicle" are coming out shortly.  In fact, I have Concord's book already and review is forthcoming.

Second, following the announcement of their 1/35 Humber scout car engine detail set, SKP Model is coming out with an Interior for their Humber as well.  See Armorama's news feature by Pat McGrath.

September 7th If you are a fan of the French Panhard 178 armored car, I think you're in for a treat.  When Dennis Trowbridge went to Saumur, he took 83 photos of the interior of that vehicle.  That's right, 83!  Check them out here.
September 6th I FINALLY finished my complete kit build (and full review) of 1/35 SKP Models' Humber Mk I Scout Car.

Also, speaking of the Humber, Hussar Productions is coming out with 3 sets of Humber Scout Car Wheels/Tires (HSR35057, HSR35058 and HSR35059), all with different tread patterns.

September 3rd I've finally gotten back to working on putting up Dennis Trowbridge's photos from Saumur France.  This time I've put up an index and photos of the BTR-70 APC, and new photos of the OT-64C/SKOT 2A.
August 31st Also, I've gotten access to about 20 more WFV photos from the 2007 IPMS/USA National Show.  So, check out the photos again to see the new ones.
August 30th And speaking of the M1114 Humvee, I've just put up a vehicle index with photos courtesy of SSGT Belue.
August 29th I've put up my "What's in the Box" Review of the 1/35 MIG Productions M1114 Up-Armored Humvee with Shielded MG Cupola Conversion.  This is a new and improved conversion set of MIG's first Up-Armored Humvee set.

And Voyager Model is at it again with products for the M1126 Stryker kits.  This time, they are offering a 1/35 USMC detail set for the AFV Club Stryker (PE35162).

August 28th Dave Haugh has sent over another country listing for the World of Wheelies (WOW) database.  This time it is Myanmar (Formerly Burma).

Also, there are a couple more new WFV modeling products you should be aware of: The Tank Workshop is coming out with a set of Kubelwagen Wheels with Ice Chains (TWS1048) and a small interior detailing set for Dragon's 1/35 Sdkfz 234 series of armored cars (TWS2014).  This set provides the vehicle batteries and updated transmission housing.

I've finally built enough of the 1/35 SKP Model Humber Scout Car Mark I to determine that the kit is fine in dimension and NOT too long.  I've amended my kit review to reflect that change.  Please take a look.

July 26th I've added my latest review on the 1/72 GRAN GAZ-39371 APC & BRDM Vodnik kits.

July 20th Sorry for such a long dry spell here at WarWheels.  The family and I went on a nice relaxing vacation ("holiday" for the Continentals who visit) and I've finally gotten back to posting stuff here.

Best Value Models (A subsidiary of Azimut) is releasing 1/35 plastic/resin combination kits of the GMC 2 1/2 Ton Truck with Maxson AA Mount (BVM35048), BTR-152 with ZSU-23-2 AA Gun (BVM35050), Canadian 6x6 AVGP "Cougar" (BVM35052) and Canadian SFOR "Grizzly" (BVM35053).

Griffon Model (A new Company from China) is releasing a 1/35 "Bonus Pack" Detail set which includes photo etched parts and barrel for the Dragon Sdkfz 234/1 Armored Car.

Lead Warrior (of Russia) has announced a conversion (35029) to turn the 1/35 Tamiya Steyr Type 1500A Truck into a Type 2000A 2cm Flak 38 carrier.

Lastly, Voyager Model Company has a huge amount of stuff coming out for the 1/35 M1126 Stryker kits, including a USMC super detail set for the Trumpeter kit(35142) and separately released items from that set including the M151 Remote Weapon station (PEA093), Road Wheel set (PEA094), and OVM/Water/Fuel Can Set (PEA096) which can be used for the AFV Club kit too.

Hmmmm....

February 18, 2007 Courtesy of Armorama, Legend Productions is coming out with (2) 1/35 IDF M151A2 Mutt with TOW conversions.  One conversion is for the IDF TOW Vehicle and the other is for a re-supply vehicle.

February 15, 2007 In the "links" section of WW, I've added a link to the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) Preservation Society.

In the WW Staghound I Index, I've added a link to a very nice set of photos and excellent info on the restoration of a Staghound Mark I (in XII Manitoba Dragoons livery) by Marco Hogenkamp.

Lastly, in the WW BA-64 Armored Car Index, I've added a two links to BA-64 info pages via "The Russian Battlefield" Website.  The first link is to a general BA-64 info page.  The second link is to a page outlining modifications to the BA-64.

February 13, 2007 Wow, I thought a few months ago we had a lot of armored car modeling news.  Well, with Nuremberg's 2007 Hobby Show, we have even more to report.   Courtesy of Armorama, these new kits include an  ICM 1/48 Sdkfz 222 Armored Car (and other non-wheeled kits), Italeri's 1/35 releases (Staghound I, ABM 42 Sahariana with 47/32mm Anti-Tank Gun & AB40 Ferroviaria/Railroad Version),   Mini-Art's 1/35 Bantam Jeeps (and other kits), SKP Model's (a new company) 1/35 Humber Scout Car MK 1 (not to be confused with Bronco's version), Trumpeter's 1/35 version of the M1126 ICV Stryker (and others), Zvezda's 1/35 BA-10 Soviet Armored Car, and all the major "Braille scale" releases, including Dragon's BTR-80 and Italeri's AB41 and Sahariana in 1/72!

Also, per Armorama, here are some wonderful test shot photos of AFV Club's 1/35 Stryker ICV.

January 5, 2007 Happy New Year everyone!  A little belated, but pretty typical of WarWheels lately. 

The bad news is that I haven't been able to attend to WW as much as I'd like.  The good news is that I am actually building models for a change.  I am finishing up the 1/35 Academy M151 Mutt with TOW kit and I will post the build article as soon as I am finished.  The "in-box review" has been up for awhile and you can check it out here.  Until next time...
