This edition, edited, annotated and illustrated by David R. Haugh

The armored car is defined as a comparatively light wheeled reconnaissance vehicle with light armor, high road speed, superior cross-country mobility for a wheeled vehicle, and armament to cope with enemy machine gun fire

The body of this record gives an account of the design, development, engineering, and production of Armored Cars in five sections as follows:

  • A record of the design, development, engineering, and production of Armored Cars from 1 January 1940 to 31 December 1942. During this period the Medium and Heavy Armored Cars were developed.

  • A Brief record of the recommendations of the Special Armored Vehicle Board, of 5 December 1942, terminating projects for Medium and Heavy Armored Cars.

  • A record of the design, development, engineering, and manufacturing of the Light Armored Cars to 1 October 1944.

  • Additional information and photos.
