Miscellaneous Info:

The Maneuver Combat Vehicle (MCV) was designed by the Japanese Ministry of Defense-Technical Research and Development Institute.  The MCV was developed as a lightweight, highly mobile tank destroyer which could replace some of the Main Battle Tanks of the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force.  The MCV is air-transportable and can be landed on shore via amphibious support craft.

As of 2015, only four (4) prototype vehicles have been built, but the projected number when full production is completed will be approximately 200-300.

There are some indications that there could be further vehicle types created using the MCV’s chassis; specifically an armored personnel carrier.  However, this information has not yet been confirmed.
