| Miscellaneous Info: | BTR is the acronym for "Bronetransporter", translated
from Russian as 'armored transporter'. The BTR-80 was an improvement of
the BTR-70 APC Series. This vehicle
was succeeded by the BTR-90 APC. Although the BTR-80 has the same
armament armament as the BTR-70 APC the weapons are more effective due
to a higher possible gun elevation level. Variants include the 2S 23 NONA-SVK 120mm Self-Propelled Gun, BMM Armored Medical Vehicle, BTR-80 MPAEJ Technical Barrier Armored Response Vehicle (Hungary), BREM-K Recovery Vehicle, BTR-80A IFV/APC, BTR-80K Command Vehicle, BTR-80 M1989/1 Command Vehicle, RKhM-4 Chemical Recon Vehicle and SPR-2 Jamming Vehicle. |
